Goodyear Tire Recalls and Defects

Goodyear Tire Recalls & Defects

In October of 2016, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company issued a voluntary recall of nearly 1,650 commercial vehicle tires. Goodyear determined that certain tires contained a defect that happened during part of the manufacturing process that resulted in incomplete adhesion of the tire, which could lead to partial tread separation. Tread separation can cause tire pressure to decrease rapidly, which increases the chance of property damage, injury, and death.

Reporting Potentially Defective Tires

If your tire is officially recalled, you should be notified by the manufacturer, and the tire should be replaced at no additional expense. If you have a complaint about your tire and it is not recalled, it is important that you report the issue so that your brand and line of tires can be investigated further.

Your first course of action is to call the National Highway Transportation Safety Association (NHTSA) or file an online complaint with their online website, Safercar.gov. Consumers may also want to file a complaint with the Center for Auto Safety (CAS), an organization that researches automotive issues, including defective tires.

It is also a good idea to share your complaint with the website CarComplaints.com. This free website allows consumers and law firms to report and investigate complaints and claims.

When Should You Seek Advice from an Attorney?

Not every defective tire results in the need for a tire defect attorney. But, if you have suffered significant economic losses or have been personally injured because of a suspected tire defect, you may want to seek legal guidance.

There are thousands of product liability attorneys in the United States today, but not every product liability attorney is familiar with tire defects. Tires are highly specialized products, requiring an attorney who understands the background of the product and how a specific tire manufacturer handles tire-related issues. This is why people across the nation choose the tire defect lawyers at The Ammons Law Firm.
