Michelin Tire Defects

Michelin Tire Recalls & Defects

We Represent Clients throughout the United States

Michelin is one of the largest producers of motor vehicle tires in the world. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they have also been the subject of numerous tire recalls and tire defect lawsuits. As recently as November of 2018, Michelin voluntarily recalled its 377 Michelin CrossClimate™ SUV tires, commonly found on SUVs, CUVs, and minivans, in Canada due to an internal error that caused these tires to be produced without the necessary sidewall markings indicating maximum pressure, load, and ply description. In the past, Michelin tires have been named in lawsuits involving tread separation, blowouts, and other tire defects.

The Ammons Law Firm has successfully taken on Michelin in defective tire litigation on behalf of injured individuals and the families of those wrongfully killed in auto accidents caused by defective tires. Our Houston tire defect attorneys provide aggressive legal advocacy and compassionate support for clients nationwide. If you were involved in an accident or lost a loved one in a collision caused by a defective Michelin tire, reach out to our team to find out how we can help.

What Is Tread Separation?

Tread separation is a fairly common type of defect affecting auto tires, including those produced by Michelin. It occurs when the inner tire separates from the outer tire wall or casing, leading to tire failure and blowout. This, in turn, can cause serious accidents, especially when tread separation occurs at high speeds.

Tread separation is commonly the result of a defective tire design and manufacturing. Improper bonding of the tread or steel belting within the tire can eventually lead to tread separation. Tires intended for large commercial vehicles are particularly susceptible to tread separation and blowouts due to the heavy loads they are required to carry. When these tires are defective, they are unable to carry such loads, leading to catastrophic tread separation and devastating truck accidents.
