Truck Causes Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-84 Between Boise and Mountain Home

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho — A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 78.

Preliminary reports indicate the accident unfolded when a driver operating a 2015 Volvo Semi tractor on the interstate failed to stop in time as traffic slowed down. The semi-truck collided with nine other vehicles traveling on the same stretch of the interstate.

The driver of a Kia and the truck driver of a 2022 Freightliner sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

Thoughts on Truck Running into Several Vehicles

Sustaining an injury from a crash is scary and can alter one’s life. Suffering from pain, flashbacks, and loss of wages is hard enough without the burden of the other party, making it difficult for someone to receive the justice they deserve. Trucking companies looking out for their best interest may make the process even more taxing if they refuse to take responsibility for the negligent actions of their driver and possibly their company. This is why whenever someone suffers an injury from a truck accident, it is crucial they have help from trained professionals.

Trained professionals need to investigate the accident to determine what caused the driver to crash into slowing traffic. The vast majority of accidents are caused by driver error, such as distraction, fatigue, or impairment. In these cases, it is important to hold the truck driver responsible for the actions that injured others to help prevent the same harm to others. Truckers who cannot drive safely should not be permitted to drive commercially.

However, there are instances where a truck driver has little control over the truck. In fact, nearly 10% of truck accidents are caused by a mechanical failure of some type. It will be important to determine if the truck played a role in this crash. If a mechanical failure caused the driver to lose control, the person or company responsible for the failure should also be held responsible for the injuries caused in this crash.

Once all wrongdoing is identified, the injured deserve answers and a right to hold the wrongdoers financially responsible for the injuries and suffering they have experienced because of this crash.
