Douglas Lee Hansen injured in a Ford rollover accident in Minnesota

Douglas Hansen was injured in a car accident after his truck left the roadway and rolled over.

According to reports, Hansen was traveling southeast on Highway 68 in Eidsvold Township in a 2003 Ford F-150 when his truck left the roadway and rolled into a ditch south of the roadway.

Authorities stated Hansen sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Marshall Hospital for treatment.

No further information regarding the cause of the crash was immediately available.

Mr. Hansen may have a crashworthiness claim against Ford for the injuries caused by the rollover accident

It is common knowledge that innocent motorists injured in a two-vehicle accident have a right to recover the cost of their medical bills and other damages from the at-fault party. However, when it comes to single-vehicle accidents such as the one we have here, many folks believe the injured motorists are solely responsible for their injuries and damages. This is not necessarily true, particularly in rollover accidents involving older-model vehicles. Auto manufacturers have a duty to produce vehicles that provide ample protection during foreseeable crashes. Rollover crashes, especially in light trucks and SUVs are highly foreseeable and occur with alarming frequency. As such, Ford and other auto manufacturers must produce vehicles with ample protection for motoring occupants. This concept is known as crashworthiness, and when an auto manufacturer produces a vehicle that is not crashworthy, it can be held responsible for the resulting injuries and damages.

Unfortunately, many early turn-of-the-century model Fords lack sufficient roof strength, rendering them uncrashworthy, and providing injured motorists a claim against Ford to recover the damages sustained in the crash. To determine if the injuries sustained by Mr. Hansen were a result of an uncrashworthy vehicle, it will be important to have this accident investigated by trained auto defect attorneys with experience handling Ford rollover crashes. These are complicated cases that require training and experience.

Our firm has handled many Ford rollover accidents just like this one, many of which resulted in a fatality. I am grateful to learn that Mr. Hansen survived this crash and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery from the injuries sustained in this crash.
