
HOUSTON, Texas—Baylor Law students took first place at the 2022 Hunton Andrews Kurth Moot Court National Invitational Championship hosted by the University of Houston Law Center from Jan. 27-29.
Students Lexie Ammons, Michael Tagliabue, and brief writer Sarah Megan Erb competed against the top 16 advocacy programs in the nation for the top honor.
Lexie Ammons is the daughter of Robert E. Ammons, founder and managing partner of The Ammons Law Firm, and his wife, Chris Ammons. In addition to serving on the championship winning team, Lexie was declared 'Best Speaker' of the competition.
For the championship win, the Baylor Law students will share a $7,000 scholarship. Lexie will receive an additional $2,500 for being selected as Best Speaker of the competition.
The championship team was coached by Professor of Law Larry T. Bates and Assistant Dean Pat Wilson.
Baylor Law teams were semi-finalists in this national competition in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
