General Motors Sued in Los Angeles

On behalf of a 37-year-old California man, Rob Ammons and Thomas Johnston have filed suit against General Motors.  The lawsuit stems from a crash in which the 2015 Chevrolet Spark the man was driving was rear-ended by a Honda Accord.  The man suffered spinal injuries in the crash that have rendered him, quadriplegic.

In the lawsuit, Rob Ammons claims the Spark is not crashworthy in rear-end collisions.  It is alleged that the Spark poorly manages crash forces in rear impacts, dangerously increasing the risk of injury to its occupants.  In this crash, the back of the driver’s seat failed and reclined, placing the driver in a position in which his seat belts could not properly restrain him.  The combination of the uncrashworthy structure, the reclined seat, and ineffective seat belts caused the man to suffer a catastrophic spinal cord injury.
