Thoughts on the fatal truck accident that left two injured in Cypress
Unfortunately, collisions between commercial trucks and passenger vehicles often result in fatalities and severe injury. These collisions are often revealed to be preventable, and the loved ones of the deceased, as well as those injured, deserve answers. Our firm is highly skilled at conducting investigations that get to the root cause of an accident, identify those who should be held accountable, and secure deserved relief for our clients. When facing Amazon, it is important we know exactly what happened. There is no excuse for one of the largest corporations in the world to sacrifice the highest standards of safety, training, and maintenance in all that they do.
Drivers of delivery trucks have to be mindful of other drivers as they perform their jobs. Unfortunately, our investigations often reveal that delivery truck accidents are caused by distracted driving. Navigation programs and smartphones are both common sources of distraction for delivery drivers, and their use at inappropriate times results in completely preventable crashes. If it is found that the driver of the delivery truck here neglected their duty to operate their vehicle safely, free from distractions, that would be one potential avenue for legal recourse.
We also need to look at the condition of the delivery truck itself. These trucks are required to be equipped with extra lights and sounds to alert other drivers to the truck’s frequent stops and need to reverse. Employers must ensure these safety features function properly and should be held accountable when they fail to do so.
It will also be important to investigate the condition of the Camaro. If it was a newer Camaro, we need to ensure that the driver assist/crash avoidance technology was working correctly and look to the manufacturer for answers in the event it was not. If it was an older Camaro, we must ensure that any recent repairs were done correctly. Bad brake repair jobs are a common issue, as well as defective parts. If our investigation reveals that a repair job was done poorly or that faulty parts were used, we may be able to seek relief from the repair shop or parts manufacturer.
The loved ones of the deceased and those injured deserve to know what happened here so they can recover under the law. We fight to get this relief for our clients every day, and we don’t stop until we’ve pursued every potential source. Our deepest condolences go to the deceased’s family, and we wish a speedy recovery to those injured.
