Three people, including one teen, were injured in a rollover crash off I-35 in East Austin

AUSTIN, Texas—After a rollover crash involving multiple vehicles off I-35, three people were transported to a nearby hospital to treat severe injuries. The collision occurred at 10:57 p.m. at 5621 North I-35 on a service road on September 24, 2022.

Reportedly, the accident caused one vehicle to roll over while the driver was ejected. The driver sustained critical, life-threatening injuries. Two passengers in the vehicle, one a teenager, also suffered severe injuries. All three victims were rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment.

The accident resulted in temporary road closures along the service road.

The crash is still under investigation. No other details were immediately available.

A rollover accident may result in manufacturer liability if the vehicle was not properly manufactured

Although some might assume that the driver of the vehicle was distracted in the moments leading up to this rollover crash, that may not be the case. Instead, personal injury attorneys should demand a thorough examination of the crash site and vehicles involved to determine causation and accordingly apportion liability among responsible parties.

Personal injury law aims to provide victims of accidents and their families with the compensation they need and deserve following a horrific event like this. Indeed, no family should have to navigate a complex lawsuit alone while also grieving the loss of a loved one. Similarly, no victim should be responsible for medical expenses when another party causes their injuries. The injured victims of this crash should have every opportunity to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

While the most likely cause of this crash is driver error, there may be causes out side the control of either driver that contributed to the crash and injuries. For instance, the vehicle could have been subject to a mechanical failure caused by a defect in the vehicle’s manufacturing process or design. When a vehicle is poorly designed, the risk of an accident increases dramatically. Likewise, suppose quality control protocols are not followed during the manufacturing process. In that case, one car may contain a fatal flaw, ultimately leading to the death or injury of an innocent driver or passenger.

Alternatively, this accident could have been caused by the negligence of another driver involved in the wreck. Since we do not yet have all the details of this crash, we cannot be sure whether another driver in this multi-car wreck is responsible for the rollover. In that case, the injured victims and their families may demand compensation from another driver or, possibly, the responsible driver’s vehicle manufacturer.

We cannot know for sure what happened here and who responsible for the victims’ injuries. However, the job of a skilled personal injury lawyer is to identify causes that are not readily apparent and make sure the injured and deceased victims receive the justice they deserve.
