NOLANVILLE, Texas – Authorities identified the 43-year-old man killed in the multi-vehicle-truck accident as Victor Powell of Austin, Texas.
The accident occurred on I-14 near Paddy Hamilton Road. The accident involved multiple vehicles. According to reports, a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle were involved in a wreck that blocked traffic. The driver of one of the vehicles attempted to flag down traffic to prevent further crashes.
The vehicle of a driver that stopped to render aid was struck by another motorist. An oncoming semi-truck could not stop in time and crashed into all the vehicles. The truck was hauling 8,500 gallons of fuel, which ignited in the collision.
Authorities reported that the driver of the fuel tanker, Victor Powell, was killed in the crash. Four other motorists suffered minor injuries.
No further information was immediately available.
The Victor family has been wronged and deserves answers and justice.
No one meant for this crash to happen. But it did, and a man is dead. A family is left mourning and should be given the answers and justice they deserve. This crash will need to be investigated to determine exactly what happened and identify all wrongdoing that took place leading up to the crash.
It is clear that the danger was created by the two motorists involved in the first crash, and special attention must be given to determining how that crash occurred. When another motorist creates a dangerous condition by their own negligent action, they may be liable for subsequent crashes caused by their negligent conduct. Without further investigation, it is difficult to determine exactly what happened and the best way to help the Victor family. My hope is that those responsible for this crash will quickly resolve the matter and allow the mourning family to move forward in peace.
At this time, I offer my deepest condolences to the surviving family and pray that they may find the peace, strength, and support they need during this very difficult time of grief.
