Load Falls Out of Semi-Truck and Causes an Injury on I-10 West at US-54 CENTRAL EL PASO, Texas


El Paso, Texas — A load fell off a semi-truck on I-10 West at US-54 on Tuesday afternoon.

One person suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital.

No further information is available.

Thoughts on Unsecured Loads on the Roadways

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is clear on cargo loads: individuals loading cargo must use the appropriate number of tie-downs and secure them properly to prevent cargo from loosening, unfastening, and releasing. In addition, loads must not exceed the maximum weight limit.

What caused the load to fall off the truck? Was the load in the truck involved in this accident adequately secured? The fact it fell off indicates it was not, and someone was injured as a result. Absent mistake, loads do not fall off trucks.
