Man Dies in an Accident Involving Semi-Truck on US 27 at Harbor Drive in Lake Wales, Florida

Lake  Wales, Florida — A Highlands County man died on Monday night when his GMC Sierra truck and a semi-truck collided. The incident happened South of Lake Wales on US 27.

According to reports, a semi-truck was executing a U-turn from southbound US 27 to head northbound when the GMC truck traveling north in the outside lane collided with the semi-truck trailer.

The driver of the Sierra died on the scene.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured.

Both drivers were reported to be wearing seat belts during the crash.

Semi-trucks should not attempt a U-turn in the middle of traffic.

In this incident, people might think the Sierra driver is at fault for hitting the truck, but truckers cannot make U-turns when it interferes with the flow of traffic.
