One Person Dead Following a Pickup and Semi-Truck Accident on I-71 in Congress Township, Wayne County, Ohio

Congress Township, Wayne County, Ohio – A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado collided with a parked 2009 Kenworth semi tractor-trailer, killing the pickup truck driver. The incident happened Friday on  I-71.

 According to reports, the Silverado veered off the side of the road and collided with the rear of the parked semi. The Silverado and the trailer became engulfed in flames after the impact.

The pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

You can’t park a semi-truck on the side of the road

There are very clear rules on when and where a truck can park. The side of the road is usually not one of the designated places. Truck drivers who choose to park on the side of the road cannot escape liability for an accident that occurs simply by pointing to the deceased driver for running into them.

This accident will need to be investigated. The deceased deserves justice, and if the truck driver was negligently parked on the side of the road, the family deserves answers and a right to hold the wrongdoers accountable.

We have seen this same accident many times over the years, and the trucking company and driver will routinely point to the motorist for running into the back of the truck. This is unfair, and my hope is that a full understanding of what happened here comes to light and the family receives the answers and any justice they may deserve.
