Several People Injured After Tire Blowout Causes Accident on Hwy. 41 near the Patoka Bridge in Gibson County, Indiana

Gibson County, Indiana— Multiple people were hospitalized after a tire blowout led to a two-vehicle crash. The incident happened on U.S. Highway 41 North near the Patoka Bridge.

According to preliminary information, an SUV traveling northbound on U.S. 41 experienced a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The SUV crossed the median and collided with a truck in the southbound lane.

Updates on the situation will be provided as the story develops.

Tire Blowout Crashes Must be Investigated to Ensure the Parties at Fault are Held Accountable

If this accident was caused by a tire that failed due to someone else’s mistakes, those injured deserve justice. Many factors can lead to tire failure, including reasons outside the driver’s control. Sometimes, tires leave the manufacturer with a defect. Many motorists have died or suffered serious injuries from defective tires that made it to the roadways. These faulty tires pose a great danger since there are no signs the tire is bad until a blowout happens, which, by then, is too late. When catastrophic accidents happen due to a manufacturing defect, the manufacturer must give account to the injured and the deceased’s surviving families.

Tires can also fail due to a recent maintenance job gone wrong. We trust repair shops to fix our tire issues, but there are many instances where a shop installs or repairs a tire improperly, causing the tire to blow out and causing great injury and death. Maintenance shops that fail to dispose of or adequately fix damaged tires need accountability when their actions cause the public harm.

The best way to determine why the tire in this incident failed is to have trained professionals inspect the tire. If the tire is deemed defective or a poor repair job is the culprit, the responsible party needs to answer to the injured.
