Woman Killed at a Red Light in a Semi-Truck Accident at U.S. 27 and U.S. 98 in Sebring, Florida

Sebring, Florida – A woman was killed when a semi-truck backed into her SUV while she waited at a red light. The incident happened around 2 a.m. on Wednesday at U.S. 27 and U.S. 98 intersection in Highlands County.

The woman died at the scene.

Updates will be provided as more details emerge.

Causes and consequences of rear-end collisions with semi-trucks

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving is the number one cause of rear-end collisions. Speed, fatigue, and intoxication also contribute to rear-end crashes.

The family of the deceased will deserve answers as to why this crash happened and if any other party is at fault. Mainly, was the truck driver worthy to be on the road? We have found that many crashes caused by clear negligence result from truck drivers who should not be on the road in the first place. Trucking companies hiring drivers without proper training are responsible for their negligent actions.

Trained professionals will need to investigate to determine who all is responsible for this horrific crash and what can be done to prevent similar crashes from happening in the future.
