OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies reported that three individuals were hospitalized with varying injuries following a rollover car crash. The incident happened on Saturday at approximately 5:14 p.m. on westbound I-196 near the 58-mile marker.
According to police, a 40-year-old Holland woman was driving a 2003 Chevy S-10 pickup truck in the westbound direction on I-196 when a tire blew out. The sudden tire failure caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, veering off the shoulder of the road on the north side of I-196.
Subsequently, the vehicle rolled over and came to a rest upside down. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Police said that there were five passengers inside the S-10 at the time of the incident. Three of the passengers required transportation to an area hospital for medical treatment. The Holland woman, along with a 67-year-old female passenger, sustained serious injuries, while a 30-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries, according to authorities.
Two children aged 14 and 1, who were also in the vehicle, were reportedly uninjured. Authorities confirmed that all passengers were properly restrained, either by seat belts or appropriate child restraint seats.
No further information was immediately available.
The Injured Need Help. Our Firm Handles Rollover Accidents Caused by Tire Failures
I am very grateful to learn that no one was killed in this crash and that the two children walked away uninjured. The Chevy S-10 pickup truck is a dangerous vehicle in rollover accidents, often leaving the occupants seriously injured or killed.
The victims in this crash will need to speak to trained product defect attorneys. This crash may have been caused by a defective tire, and the injuries may have been caused by a defect in the truck.
We handle tire blowout rollover accidents across the country. We are very familiar with the Chevy S-10. We are currently handling a tire blowout rollover accident involving a Chevy S-10 for a family whose daughter was killed in the crash.
In that crash, our client’s daughter was the front-seat passenger in a Chevy S-10. She was wearing her seatbelt. When the truck’s back tire blew out, the driver could not maintain control of the truck. The truck ended up rolling off the road. The young woman’s seat belt failed to work properly, and she was partially ejected from the vehicle and killed.
The family was told to call our firm, as we handle cases involving tire blowouts and rollovers. We quickly determined that the tire was defective and caused the crash. We are suing the tire manufacturer for causing the crash that killed the young woman. Our investigation also determined that the truck was defective. We are suing Chevy because the truck was defective and failed to protect the young woman during the accident sequence.
This is only one example of hundreds that we have handled over the years where innocent victims are injured in rollover accidents caused by a sudden tire blowout. We do everything we can to hold the manufacturers responsible in these cases.
Accidents involving defective tires and vehicles are complicated cases. They often result in very serious injuries that leave the victims financially overburdened. Our clients often have significant medical bills and cannot return to work due to their injuries. It is not fair for the injured to suffer these harms when the accident was not their fault. We can help those injured here and others similarly situated investigate the crash. If it is determined one or both manufacturers produced a defective product, we can bring a lawsuit and help the injured recover the financial compensation they need to move forward.
