Fatal Crash Shuts Down Blue Route in Philadelphia Suburbs

A tragic collision involving a jackknifed tractor-trailer, a van hauling a U-Haul trailer, and a car resulted in the closure of a busy section of the Blue Route during Monday morning’s commute in the Philadelphia suburbs. The incident occurred near mile marker 15.4 on the northbound lanes of Interstate 476, between Exit 13and Exit 16A at approximately 5 a.m.

The tractor-trailer veered off the roadway and jackknifed, with its cab colliding against the side of the trailer. Behind the truck, a car was found crashed on the road, and further back, a white van hauling a U-Haul trailer collided with a light post.

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the unfortunate loss of a woman’s life at the scene, although they did not disclose which vehicle she was in during the crash. The roadway remained closed for several hours, and no estimated time was provided for its reopening.

Drivers on the highway were halted behind the crash, and motorists were strongly advised to avoid the Blue Route and utilize surface roads due to the extended closure.
