Accident Claims Life of Semi-Truck Driver off Interstate 90 in Sturgis, South Dakota

Turgis, South Dakota –  A trucker died when the semi-truck and trailer he was driving veered off the road and crashed into parked cars of a train. The incident occurred off Interstate 90 just before the I-90 exit 30 westbound off-ramp.

According to reports, a 2019 Peterbilt semi and trailer was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway toward the median while crossing a bridge. The combination struck the bridge end and then plummeted into the median, colliding with a parked train on the tracks below. The impact caused two of the train’s cars to derail and a fire to erupt.

The driver of the semi and trailer was taken to the hospital via life flight, where he was pronounced deceased.
