James Clark Suffers Serious Injuries in a Multi-Vehicle Semi-Truck Accident on I-70 near Adam’s Dairy Parkway in Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City, MO — One person died, and another suffered serious injuries after a multi-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 70 near Adam’s Dairy Parkway around 2:15 p.m.

According to reports, traffic was moving slowly in the area when a 2022 International truck collided with the back of a 2004 Ford Excursion. The impact caused the Ford Excursion to crash into the guardrail. The International truck also struck the rear of a FedEx semi-truck.

The passenger in the International succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. James Clark, the driver of the Ford Excursion, sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical attention. The Fed-ex driver’s condition is unknown.

Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Thoughts on Semi-Truck Accidents

Because traffic conditions can change rapidly, a motorist with safety in mind should drive defensively and adjust to the traffic’s current conditions on the roadways. This means driving vigilantly, adjusting speed, and obeying basic traffic rules according to what the current traffic dictates. When truck drivers fail to adhere to traffic changes and cause an accident, they and their employer may be held accountable for any serious injuries or death their actions cause.

We cannot draw any conclusions on why the semi-truck driver (who sadly passed away) in this incident failed to slow down, but we know the usual culprits are distraction, speed, or impairment. In some instances, we have also seen mechanical issues as the cause of the accident. In other words, someone was negligent along the way.

Trucking companies are responsible for training their employees on safe driving, vetting their drivers for red flags or repeated traffic violations, and maintaining and regularly inspecting their trucks to ensure safe vehicles are on the road and do not cause harm. When these companies fail to follow these simple steps to keep our roadways safe, they can be held accountable when a devastating wreck happens.

Trained professionals will need to conduct an investigation to determine all the factors that led to this accident and ensure all wrongdoers are held accountable.

I wish the injured in this incident a swift and complete recovery.
