Motorist Killed in a Rollover Accident involving an SUV on Interstate 80, Lincoln, Nebraska

Lincoln, Nebraska– On Sunday, a rollover crash claimed the life of 73-year-old Timothy Gill in the northern part of Lincoln. The incident transpired around 2 p.m. when Mr. Gill’s vehicle veered off the road, and his SUV overturned multiple times.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

No further details have been provided.

Thoughts on Rollover Accidents

When fatal accidents happen, many people think the only thing that matters is what caused the crash. Thus, in rollover crashes, people assume the driver is responsible for the accident and resulting harm. However, there is often much more to the story.

When a person suffers serious injuries or death in a rollover accident, it is important to determine whether the vehicle they were traveling in provided them with adequate protection. When vehicles fail to provide protection, a person suffers injuries they otherwise would not have suffered.

For example, SUVs are prone to rollover. Manufacturers know this and have a duty to construct SUV vehicles to protect their occupants and not cause them injuries or death. If these vehicles are involved in a rollover, their safety features must function properly: seatbelts must restrain, airbags must deploy, and roofs must retain their structure. Manufacturers that fail to provide motorists with this simple protection must be held accountable.

The family of Mr. Gill deserves answers. Was their loved one killed because the vehicle was defective? If so, the manufacturer should be held responsible.
