A large Truck Tire Accident on I-94 in St. Michael, Minnesota, Causes Kills two and Injures Three Others

St. Michael, Minnesota – An accident on Interstate 94, near the intersection with Highway 241,  claimed two individuals’ lives and injured three others.

According to reports, the crash happened on Saturday before 5 p.m. when a westbound semi-truck lost two tires. One tire collided with an eastbound Nissan Rogue driven by Viengkhone Nguyen.

Ms. Nguyen and her passenger Lea Khamphachanh suffered fatal injuries, and three other vehicle occupants were taken to the hospital. The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the crash.

Thoughts on Loose Tire Accidents

These women spending their Saturday afternoon together were stripped of their right to make it home to their families. This is unacceptable and should never happen to anyone.

Tires do not just fall off semi-trucks unless someone messes up. The trucking company will have to give an account of the truck’s maintenance. Did the trucking company conduct regular inspections and maintenance on the truck to prevent an accident like this from happening? Or did they neglect to repair a known issue with the tire, instead choosing to provide a fast, temporary fix that was bound to lead to a hazardous situation if not tended to soon?

In addition, the trucking company’s company culture will come into question. Was the trucker speeding, creating a dangerous situation? Was the truck overloaded, causing more pressure on the tires? If the trucking company is found to have neglected its duty to provide a safe truck, it can be held accountable for its actions.

Two women lost their lives, and three will have to live with immense pain and emotional distress for years. Lives have been shattered and destroyed by this tragic incident. All the victims and their families deserve answers and justice in every form for the pain and suffering they have been forced to endure.
