Ford Pickup Truck Rollover Accident Claims Life of Passenger Betty Stomner in Emery County, Utah

Emery, Utah — At approximately 6 a.m., a pickup driver, traveling eastbound on I-70 near milepost 135 in Emery County, navigated a gradual right turn when the Ford pickup truck veered off the left side of the road before traveling off the right side of the road and rolling over.

Passenger Betty Stomner was ejected from the truck. She succumbed to her injuries shortly after emergency responders transported her to the hospital.

At this time, no further information is available.

Thoughts on Ford Pickup Rollover Accidents

Rollovers are one of the most dangerous types of accidents. They are also some of the most misunderstood. The vehicles we drive should withstand impact and protect us from further injury or death in the unfortunate circumstance we are in an accident. For example, seatbelts should restrain, airbags should deploy, and roofs should not collapse. When vehicles fail these simple safety measures, the manufacturers can be held accountable.

The news release from this rollover accident shows a concerning image — a crushed roof. A crushed and collapsed roof is a sign that the vehicle may be defective. Trained professionals can examine the crash site and the truck to determine if the design of the roof on the Ford truck provided sufficient protection to the occupants of the vehicle. An investigation will also determine whether the injuries and fatality suffered in this crash were caused by the roof crushing during the rollover accident. Manufacturers are responsible for injuries and deaths caused by defective vehicles.
