Thoughts on Rollover Crashes

Rollover accidents are misunderstood. While it may be the case that the driver caused the crash, the driver may not be responsible for their injuries. The vehicles we drive must protect us from accidents that manufacturers know will happen.

According to the news report, Mr. Robledo suffered blunt force trauma. His injury is concerning because of the type of accident and the vehicle’s model. Ford SUVs have a history of rollover accidents where they failed to provide the occupant adequate protection and contributed to their fatal injury. This is not acceptable. Manufacturers have a legal obligation to provide consumers with vehicles that will protect them from serious injury or death, not cause them greater injury.

Vehicles that fail to protect their occupants are considered defective products. A car’s safety features should function properly: seatbelts should restrain, airbags should deploy, and roofs should not collapse. Trained professionals will need to conduct an independent investigation to determine whether the Ford SUV provided the protection one would expect in such an accident.

His family deserves to know all the facts. If an investigation finds that the SUV added to or caused this man’s death, Ford should take responsibility for its negligence.
