Semi and Pick-up Truck Accident Injures Three on Hwy 151 in Dubuque County, Iowa

Dubuque County, Iowa – A semi and pickup truck collided in Dubuque County on Wednesday.

According to preliminary reports, the semi turned onto Hwy 151 when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck already heading north.

All three pickup truck occupants sustained injuries, with the pickup driver having to be airlifted to the hospital.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Thoughts on Collisions with Semi-trucks

Sadly, this is a scenario we see over and over again. A driver with the right of way proceeds to turn when a large truck, failing to yield, causes the driver to slam into them. Failure to yield is one of the five leading causes of accidents with large trucks (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration). When trucks fail to give the right of way and cause serious injuries or death due to their actions, they need to be held accountable.

Trucking companies may also be responsible for their drivers’ negligent actions. When employers fail to properly train and supervise their truckers to ensure they safely drive on the roadways and not place other motorists at risk, they can be liable for any serious harm their drivers may cause.

An investigation by trained professionals will help determine what caused this accident and all who are responsible for this crash.
