Semi-Truck Accident Claims Life of James Shearer, Injures Six Others on Interstate 94 in Western Wisconsin


Wilson, Wisconsin – On Monday, a fiery collision involving a semi-truck and multiple vehicles caused two fatalities and six injuries.

The incident took place on Interstate 94 near the bridge for Hwy. 128 south of Wilson, Wisconsin, when a semi-truck traveling at a high speed approached slower-moving traffic. The semi-truck plowed into the rear of a pickup truck and another semi, engulfing the semi and pickup truck in flames.

James Shearer, the pickup driver, lost his life at the scene along with the semi-truck driver who slammed into his truck.

Thoughts on the Fiery Semitruck Accident

The video images of this accident are heart-wrenching to watch. Life’s fragility is on full display in the last seconds before the semi-truck slams into Mr. Shearer’s pickup truck. It also leaves us to wonder what went wrong here — what caused this senseless crash. Why did the semi-truck driver not adjust his speed to the current traffic conditions? Was he distracted? Asleep behind the wheel? Impaired? Or did the truck suffer a mechanical issue (mechanical failure, although unlikely, causes 10% of roadway accidents)? Only a thorough investigation can answer these difficult questions and determine all wrongdoers responsible for this accident. Those affected deserve answers and justice. My hope is they receive it.
