Truck Accident in Duluth, Minnesota, Claims Life of Paul Larson

DULUTH, Minn. — An accident in Duluth on Friday morning has left one individual dead.

Around 8:45 a.m., a 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling eastbound on Martin Road when it slowed down and maneuvered onto the shoulder of the roadway. The Sienna then made a U-turn, changing direction to head west on Martin Road. In the moment of redirection, a 2005 Freightliner flatbed truck, also traveling eastbound on Martin Road, collided with the Toyota Sienna on its driver’s side.

The Toyota Sienna driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. Passenger Paul Larson was fatally injured and died on the scene of the collision.

No other information is currently available.

Thoughts on Freightliner Flatbed Truck Accident

What a sad situation. We have handled cases where it seems only one party is at fault, only to discover (through dashcam and other evidence) that other parties were also liable for the accident. Trained professionals must investigate this incident to see if this incident was preventable by all parties involved.

An investigation can answer questions like whether the truck driver was speeding or distracted, resulting in less reaction time to prevent slamming into the Sienna. I am sure that the truck driver had no intention of hitting this driver, but if wrongdoing prevented evasive action, the family deserves answers.
