Long Grove, Illinois — An accident in Long Grove Tuesday morning resulted in the loss of one life when a head-on collision occurred between a box truck and a semi-truck.
The incident unfolded just after 10 a.m. along Route 53, slightly north of Lake Cook Road. According to preliminary reports, a male driver was operating a 2021 Isuzu box truck, heading northbound on Route 53. For unknown reasons, the box truck veered into the southbound lanes, directly into the path of a 2016 Freightliner semi transporting a loaded trailer. The two vehicles collided head-on.
The driver of the box truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger accompanying the box truck driver was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. The semi-driver was also injured in the collision and was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries.
