Fatal Kawasaki Motorcycle Accident in Houston Involving Truck Claims Life of One

Houston, Texas –– A crash involving a motorcyclist and a trailer unfolded late at night, resulting in a loss of life. The incident occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. at the intersection of 10700 Westheimer Road, as reported by the Houston Police Department.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was operating a Kawasaki motorcycle, traveling westbound when a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, towing a trailer, was heading eastbound on Westheimer.

The Chevrolet initiated a left turn into a parking lot, and the trailer encroached into the path of the Kawasaki, resulting in the collision that claimed the life of the motorcyclist.

The identity of the victim, a 23-year-old individual, is currently pending verification.

Vehicles Must Remain Alert and Yield to Oncoming Motorcycles

In 2021, nearly 6,100 motorcyclists were killed in a motorcycle collision (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). Because of their size, motorcycles are more prone to go unseen by other motorists at intersections or turns. This is no excuse for other motorists not to practice caution while turning and to have all-size vehicles in mind.

According to the news release, this accident happened because the pick-up truck driver encroached on the motorcycle’s lane while turning. Motorists who fail to yield the right of way and crash into others must be held responsible for the injuries and harm their actions cause.
