Ford Recalls Nearly 42,000 Super Duty F250 and F350 Trucks Due to Rear Axle Shaft Safety Defect

Houston, Texas – Ford has announced a recall of approximately 42,000 Super Duty F250 and F350 trucks. The recall identified a potential safety issue involving the rear axle shaft of these vehicles. According to the NHTSA report, certain 2023 Super Duty F250 and F350 trucks with single rear wheels and a 10.5-inch rear axle shaft may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing. This manufacturing concern could lead to the left rear axle shaft breaking, posing a risk of accidents.

In cases where the axle shaft breaks, it may result in a “loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway” when the truck is placed in park, as highlighted in the NHTSA report.

Ford will begin mailing notification letters to affected vehicle owners by October 16. Owners are encouraged to bring their vehicles to authorized Ford dealerships, where technicians will inspect and replace the axle shaft as necessary, all at no cost to the vehicle owners.
