Rollover Accident on Pennyrile Parkway Crofton, Kentucky, Sends Lisa Sutton to Hospital

Crofton, Kentucky – An accident occurred on Tuesday night on Pennyrile Parkway in Crofton, Kentucky, resulting in a woman being airlifted to the hospital with severe arm injuries. The incident unfolded just after 9 p.m. and involved a single-vehicle rollover.

The accident transpired when an SUV driven by Ms. Lisa Sutton was traveling southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway. Suddenly, an issue with her vehicle’s tire led to the SUV veering off the road and overturning.

EMS arrived at the scene, where they assessed her condition.  A helicopter airlifted Ms. Sutton to an area hospital for treatment of severe arm injuries sustained during the accident.Bottom of Form

This accident needs to be investigated to determine what caused the tire on this vehicle to dislodge

Experts estimate that one in every 270 car accidents is caused by tire failure (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration). That translates to 11,000 crashes a year caused by tires. These accidents often happen with no wrongdoing from the driver but from a defective tire or poor maintenance job. When an accident involving a tire is caused by a mistake on the part of the manufacturer or a tire service company, the company responsible must be held accountable. That’s why tire accidents demand a thorough investigation from trained professionals to determine the cause of the collision.

In this crash, news reports do not say specifically what happened to Ms. Sutton’s tire leading up to the crash. However, the images provided in the news report indicate the tire separated from the vehicle. A tire dislodging from a vehicle may mean the tire was not properly installed. The tire may have been missing lug nuts. There can even be an issue with the vehicle’s axle, where a defective axle causes the tire to come off. Regardless of the cause, tires should not fall off a vehicle.

We are familiar with cases like this. We are currently handling a case where a tire dislodged from a car, jumped a median, and crashed through our client’s windshield, killing him. A repair company had recently serviced the vehicle. We are investigating what went wrong.

Motorists injured in a tire failure accident need to have the vehicle inspected to determine what happened. If the tire failed because of negligence on the part of a third party, including a repair company, a service company, or a manufacturer, the injured motorist deserves answers and a right to hold the wrongdoer accountable for the injuries they suffered.
