Matthew Miller Killed in a Crash with a Semi-truck at the intersection of Route 40 and Route 172 in Rock Falls, Illinois

Whiteside County, Ill. — One man died when the tractor he was driving and a semi-truck collided. The incident happened Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 40 and Route 172 in Rock Falls.

According to reports, a farm tractor, towing a grain cart, was traveling along Route 40 and began to turn left when a semi-truck, also on Route 40, attempted to pass the tractor by moving into the opposing lane. The two vehicles collided at the intersection when the tractor initiated its turn.

The driver of the tractor, 41-year-old Matthew Miller, died from his injuries.

The semi-truck driver was issued a citation for improper passing within 100 feet of an intersection.

No other details have been released.

The surviving family deserves justice. They deserve to know exactly why this trucker decided to make an illegal passing. Commercial trucks cannot afford to take safety lightly.
