14 People Hospitalized When Van Crashes After Tire Blowout on I-75 North in Punta Gorda, Florida

Punta Gorda, Florida –  A van crashed, sending 14 people to the hospital. The incident happened on Interstate 75 North on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the van’s left rear tire suffered a blowout, causing the driver to lose control, veer off the roadway, and enter a tree line on the shoulder before overturning.

Further details will be released as they become available.

The cause of the blowout must be determined to ensure justice

Tire blowouts are scary. They happen with little to no warning and can cause devastating injuries to occupants of the vehicle impacted. Tire failure happens for a handful of reasons, including ones entirely out of the control of the car’s owner or driver. When this happens, all injured in the crash caused by the tire failure have a right to compensation for the injuries and suffering they have experienced.

Over the past twenty years, we have helped thousands of clients who have been seriously injured or killed in crashes caused by defective tires.  Defective tires have flaws that prevent them from withstanding normal road conditions. This happens far more often than people realize. Following a tire failure crash, the tire should be inspected by trained professionals who can determine if the tire failed because of a defect.

Another reason we see tires fail is because of a mistake by a tire shop. This can happen when a  tire shop installs the wrong size tire, does not repair a tire properly, or fails to replace the tire. Tire shops have an industry standard that they must follow because it keeps people safe. When this standard is not followed, the tire shop needs to be held accountable, or its negligence will hurt more people.

This is a terrible crash. We have seen many like it before. The tire must be inspected to determine why it failed. If the manufacturer or a tire shop caused the failure, those injured here deserve answers and justice for the life-altering crash they have experienced.
