Pedestrian Alexander Rodriguez Gonzalez Dies After Being Struck by Commercial Vehicle

Bucklin, Missouri – Alexander Rodriguez Gonzalez lost his life after being struck by a MoDOT truck. The incident took place on Highway 36 at 3:19 a.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2016 Freightliner lost control on an ice-covered road and collided with a 2019 International SA525 MoDOT truck.

Following the initial collision, the MoDOT truck veered out of control, striking Alexander Rodriguez Gonzalez, a pedestrian, and the trailer of a stationary 2024 Freightliner.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the involved trucks sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Trucks Should Not Be on Snowy Roads When Unsafe

This tragic incident raises questions about the safety measures and responsibilities of all parties involved.

First of all, the decision to operate trucks on icy roads demands scrutiny. Safety should always take precedence, and the trucks should avoid driving on slippery streets. Truckers are instructed to exercise extreme caution during adverse weather conditions to avoid crashes just like this one.

Why was the Freightliner being operated early in the morning in icy conditions? Was the trucker adhering to safe driving practices, or was he speeding or fatigued? These questions need to be answered to ensure those affected by this crash receive the justice they deserve.

The surviving family members have the right to know the circumstances leading to their loved one’s untimely death.

May justice and clarity be afforded to the grieving family.
