Hershel Cobb Killed in a Semi-Truck Accident at Pilot Travel Center in Mortons Gap in Henderson, Kentucky

Henderson, Kentucky – A man was killed when he became pinned between two semi-trailers at a truck stop. The incident happened early in the morning at Pilot Travel Center.

According to reports, a truck driver was sleeping in his trailer when an individual knocked on his door and asked him to pull his truck forward so that he could connect his trailer beside him. As requested, the truck driver pulled up and waited for about 15 minutes, checking his side mirror before backing up to his original spot.

The truck driver stayed in his parked space for about three hours before he pulled out to leave. That is when he discovered the driver who had requested him to move pinned between both trailers.

The man pinned was identified as Hershel Cobb and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dangers of truck stops

This terrible incident leaves us with many questions as to what went wrong. For one, it happened early in the morning, and it’s important to find out if the truck stop had sufficient lighting. The trucker’s actions also have to come into question. Was the driver too tired to make sure the pedestrian wasn’t in any of the truck’s blind spots? Were mirrors installed correctly? Truck stops are full of fatigued drivers with compromised reaction time due to their mental and physical tiredness.

Anytime someone loses their life, the family of the deceased deserves to know all the details of what caused the accident and whether or not it could have been prevented from happening. When a party fails to take precautions, and someone dies because of this failure, well, then those responsible need to be held accountable.

The sudden loss of a family member is devastating on many levels for the surviving family. May the family receive the justice they deserve if any wrongdoing happened here.
