Jennifer Bryant Killed in a Head-on Semi-Accident on I-44 in Springfield, Missouri

Springfield, Missouri — Jennifer Bryant lost her life in a crash involving a semi-truck and a FedEx truck on I-44 on Friday.

According to reports, the collision unfolded when a semi-truck breached the barrier cable and collided with an eastbound FedEx truck and Bryant’s Toyota Sienna.

Two individuals inside the semi sustained injuries, while the FedEx truck’s driver suffered minor injuries.

No further details have been provided.

Thoughts on fatal truck accidents

Accidents like this one should never happen. Someone along the way failed to keep the roadways safe, and as a result, a precious life was lost. Now, the deceased’s family deserves answers and accountability for their insufferable loss.

What caused the trucker to breach the barrier and crash head-on with the other vehicles? Did the truck suffer some type of mechanical failure? Was the driver distracted, impaired, or fatigued? If any of these factors caused the collision, the trucker and the trucking company have to accept responsibility for their negligent actions.

The Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Motor Carrier Standards states that commercial truck drivers are held to a higher standard of conduct than other highway users due to their greater potential for serious injury and loss of life. This means truck operators and motor carriers must place safety above all else, including training, knowledge, and background investigations. This ensures the safety of everyone on our roadways.  Trucking companies, along with their drivers, are accountable for the harm caused to others when they fail to do this.
