One Person Dead in Ford Rollover Crash on US Highway 521  in Kershaw County, Camden, South Carolina

Older model trucks may have defects that caused this crash and death

Each year, more than 10,000 people die in a rollover accident (National Highway Traffic Safety). These are some of the most dangerous types of crashes. Manufacturers know this and have a duty to design and produce trucks that limit the likelihood of injury in a rollover crash.

With older model trucks, we have seen issues with the stability control, causing a rollover when it should have been avoided, bad seatbelts that fail to restrain the occupants, and roofs that are too weak to withstand the rollover sequence. The technology needed to prevent this has been around for decades. Some manufacturers chose not to use it.

Following a rollover crash in an older model truck, it is important to have the truck inspected to determine exactly what happened. If the truck proves defective, the surviving family may have a right to hold the manufacturer responsible for the death of their loved one.
