One Person Flown to the Hospital by LIFEFORCE After an Accident with a Semi-truck in Cleveland, Tennessee

Cleveland, Tennessee — A collision in Cleveland on Sunday morning resulted in one individual being airlifted to the hospital by LIFEFORCE. The incident involved a car getting pinned underneath a semi-truck and was described as a T-bone accident.

According to reports, the semi-truck dragged a sedan across the intersection of Stuart Road and Old Tasso Road before coming to a halt.

No further details have been provided.

Truck accidents need to be investigated to ensure all wrongdoers are held accountable.

This sounds like an underride accident. An underride accident happens when a trailer does not have guards to protect vehicles from running under the trailer in T-bone accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these accidents account for about 10% of all large truck fatalities.

Underride truck accidents are dangerous because the windshield hits the side of the trailer while the front rides under. This prevents the vehicle from protecting the occupants. Underride guards, designed to prevent smaller vehicles from sliding underneath the trailer, play a critical role in averting such catastrophes.

When a trailer does not have underride guards to protect vehicles from riding under, the manufacturer of the trailer may have some responsibility for the injuries suffered. This is because the injuries may have been prevented, had the manufacturer added the safety bars.

Trained professionals will need to conduct an investigation to determine the cause of this accident and the injuries.

May the facts come out soon.
