One Person Hurt in a 4-Vehicle Accident Involving a Semi-truck on I-94 Near Paw Paw in Van Buren County, Michigan

Paw Paw, Mich. — One person was injured in a four-vehicle crash shortly before 2 a.m. on eastbound I-94. The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred when a semi-truck lost control and collided on the icy roads, leading to two other semi-trucks and a car unable to halt in time to avoid the collision.

Dispatch confirmed that a woman sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Trucks cannot be on roadways during dangerous weather conditions.

Truck operators must comply with federal safety regulations, and trucking companies are responsible for ensuring that their drivers are adequately trained and their vehicles meet stringent safety standards. One of the fundamental rules all truckers need to obey is parking their truck when it is not safe to drive. Was it safe to drive at the time of the crash? Reports indicate it was icy and snowy. Federal Rules require drivers to exercise extreme caution in such conditions and often require them to pull over and wait for a safer time to travel.

By fostering a culture of accountability on our roadways, we can work towards mitigating the risk of similar accidents in the future and safeguarding the well-being of all road users.
