Preston Payne Dead After Accident with Logging Truck on Highway 82 in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi

Oktibbeha County, Mississippi – An accident with a logging truck claimed the life of Preston Payne on Thursday morning.

According to reports, Payne and a logging truck were traveling east on Highway 82 when the logging truck initiated a southward turn into a driveway, and Payne collided with the rear of the logging truck.

Preston died from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Fatal Truck crashes need to be investigated by independent trucking experts.

According to the news report, the logging truck turned southward, and the deceased collided with its rear. Collisions like this one leave unanswered questions. Was the truck obstructing the view of the other vehicle? Was the cargo secured properly? Was the turn being made in a safe manner? Did the truck driver follow all the rules and regulations he needed to at that time? Questions need answers following a fatal crash.

Whenever a person loses their life in an accident with a large truck, an independent investigation is needed because the deceased’s family deserves to know all the facts surrounding the fatal collision. Some will automatically conclude that the deceased is entirely responsible for running into the truck. However, truckers have special rules they must follow to ensure accidents like this do not happen. If a rule was broken, the truck driver should not be able to escape liability simply by pointing to the other driver.

The family lost a loved one, and they deserve answers as to why. If rules designed to prevent this kind of accident from happening were broken, they deserve to know. Trucking experts will need to investigate the crash to find these answers and ensure the family receives the justice they deserve.
