Route 2 East Closed in Lebanon Due to Serious Rollover Crash

Lebanon, Connecticut Route 2 East in Lebanon has been temporarily closed due to a rollover crash with serious injuries, as reported by state police. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near exit 22.

Emergency crews are diverting traffic off the exit, and commuters are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays. The Connecticut State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit is at the scene, and further details are pending.

Rollover accidents need to be investigated to ensure the injured receive the protection they were owed

Following a rollover crash, those injured deserve to know whether their vehicle provided them the protection one would expect to receive during an accident.

We see rollover accidents across the country where innocent motorists are seriously injured or killed because the vehicle they were traveling in failed to function properly.

This could be due to a defect in a seatbelt that prevents it from restraining properly. It could be caused by a faulty airbag, that fails to deploy and provide cushion during impact. Or, as we see most often, it could be due to a defective roof that crushes during the rollover, leaving the occupants with little room for survival.

These are all defects that turn a minor injury accident into a catastrophic, life-changing incident.

This is not acceptable when large auto manufacturers possess the technology and resources needed to protect their consumers. Manufacturers must put safety over profits. When they don’t, they need to be held accountable for the serious injuries and death their decisions make.

This accident, like all serious rollover accidents, needs to be investigated by trained professionals who can determine whether the vehicle involved in this crash provided its occupants with the protection they deserved.
