Truck Driver Benjamin Myers Killed in Interstate-70 Crash near Marshall Clark County, Illinois

Clark County, Illinois  – Semi-truck driver Benjamin Myers lost his life in a crash on Interstate 70 on Tuesday.

According to reports, Myers lost control of his semi-truck and spiraled out of control, veering to the right and colliding with a guardrail before sliding into the left lane. A second semi traveling in the left lane collided with Myer’s truck. The impact forced both vehicles into the median.

Myers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thoughts on collisions between semis

When a driver loses control and collides with another vehicle, several critical questions come to the forefront. Knowing the root cause of the initial loss of control in the semi is imperative. It is essential to investigate whether external factors, mechanical issues, or other circumstances contributed to the truck driver’s inability to maintain control of his semi-truck. If this is the case, the trucking company or product manufacturer may be ultimately responsible for this crash.

Another question that comes to mind is whether the second driver could have avoided the collision. While we cannot make assumptions about the second driver’s fault, factors such as driving speed, potential distractions, or external elements need to be thoroughly examined.

In fatal accidents like this one, the family of the deceased deserves answers. The pain of losing a loved one in such circumstances is compounded by the uncertainty surrounding the cause of the accident. May the surviving family find the answers they deserve.
