Elk City, Okla. — A woman was hospitalized after her Jeep Wrangler experienced a tire blowout on Thursday morning near Elk City.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2007 Jeep Wrangler experienced a blowout, causing Angelica Garza to lose control of the Jeep. The vehicle veered off the road to the left, entered the median, and rolled onto its side.
Garza sustained leg injuries in the accident and was promptly transported to Great Plains Medical Center in Elk City.
It is noted in the report that Garza was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which likely contributed to her survivability.
Thoughts on tire blowouts
Tire blowouts often happen with little to no warning to drivers, leaving them with limited time to react and regain control of their vehicles. The suddenness of these incidents significantly increases the risk of serious injuries or even fatalities. Fortunately, in this incident, no one lost their life; however, someone suffered injuries, which warrants answers to what went wrong with this tire.
While tire failure can sometimes be the result of factors we can control, like proper tire maintenance, many people do not realize that some tires are destined to fail because they left the manufacturer with a defect in their design or construction. They are faulty products that should have never made it to the hands of motorists. When such defects are found to be responsible for the blowout, the manufacturer must be held accountable for their negligence.
We do not know what caused the Jeep Wrangler’s tire failure. However, an investigation by trained professionals who will examine the tire and know what signs to look for can determine the root cause of the blowout.
Holding manufacturers accountable for producing safe and reliable tires is essential in preventing similar tragedies from occurring in the future. As legal professionals with extensive experience in handling cases involving tire defects, we are committed to advocating for the safety of motorists and ensuring that manufacturers are held to the highest standards of accountability.
We wish the injured here a fast and full recovery.
