April Taft and Anthony Ly Injured in a Rollover Accident on Interstate 94 in La Grand Township, Minnesota

La Grand Township, Minn. – Two people were hurt in a rollover crash that happened on Interstate 94 around 7:40 p.m. Thursday.

According to reports, a Ford F-150 traveling eastbound lost control, veering into a ditch and rolling.

The driver, April May Taft, and her passenger, Anthony Veng Ly, sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

No further details have been provided.

Thoughts on pickup trucks and rollover crashes

Rollover accidents are one of the leading causes of death in vehicle accidents. I am very glad to hear these two individuals were protected enough to survive. However, rollovers are also one of the leading causes of serious injuries, and if such injuries were sustained here, the injured deserve answers.

The reason rollover accidents are so dangerous is that some vehicles do not adequately protect their occupants in these crashes. When this happens, it may indicate a defect in the truck, and the manufacturer could be held accountable for any resulting injuries.

Common truck defects include seatbelts that do not restrain, airbags that do not deploy, and roofs that crush and collapse on impact. These defects can cause serious harm that wouldn’t occur otherwise, such as head, neck, shoulder, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and even crushing injuries.

Trained professionals can examine this truck and determine whether the injuries suffered in this crash were the result of defects in the vehicle. If they were, the manufacturer must account for its role in this accident.

Our thoughts are with those injured in the rollover crash, and we hope for their complete recovery.
