Construction Worker Seriously Injured in Trench Collapse Incident in Cedar Hills, Utah

Cedar Hills, Utah – A twenty-year-old construction worker was hurt after becoming trapped in a collapsing trench in Cedar Hill.

According to reports, the worker was found buried to his chin in a trench approximately 10 feet deep. His coworkers were attempting to free him when emergency personnel arrived.

Several rescue operations helped, and it took approximately 90 minutes to extricate the worker. The injured worker was airlifted to an area hospital in serious condition for further medical treatment.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been contacted.

Sadly, many trench collapses happen when they could have been prevented. Safety systems for unstable trenches deeper than five feet can significantly reduce the risk of dangerous cave-ins resulting in injury or death. The question here is if any safety procedures were in place in this incident.
