One Dead, Five Injured After 2003 Ford Expedition Has a Tire Blowout on Interstate 84, Mountain Home, Idaho

Mountain Home, Idaho – One person has died, and five other people have sustained injuries after a 2003 Ford Expedition suffered a tire blowout. The incident happened Saturday afternoon on Interstate 84, west of Mountain Home.

According to preliminary reports, a 45-year-old male was driving the SUV when the rear passenger side tire experienced a blowout, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway, roll, and stop in a nearby field.

Six people were in the Expedition: one person died from their injuries, three were airlifted to a local hospital, and two were transported via ground ambulance to the hospital.

No further details have been provided.

Thoughts on tire blowouts

What a horrific accident with a heartbreaking outcome. The family here deserves to know what caused the tire blowout and if any outside factors out of their control led to this disastrous incident. If the tire failed because it is defective, the manufacturer of the tire needs to be held accountable for the injuries and death in this crash.

Our firm has been handling tire failure accidents for over thirty years. We have helped hundreds of people injured and killed because a manufacturer put a defective tire on the roadway. These families needed help and had nowhere else to turn because the big manufacturers did everything they could to escape liability. This is not fair. When a manufacturer produces a defective tire and causes a preventable crash, it must be held accountable for the pain and suffering caused by their negligent choices.

While the specific cause of the Ford Expedition’s tire failure remains unknown, qualified, trained professionals and industry specialists must examine the tire thoroughly to determine whether an underlying defect existed during its production.

The families of those involved in this horrific accident have a long road ahead: may they find the answers and strength they most definitely will need.
