One Person Hospitalized in a Semi-truck Rollover Accident on Interstate 75 in Fort Myers, Florida

Fort Myers, Fla. — A semi-truck driver was hospitalized after their truck rolled over. The incident happened Saturday morning on I-75 in Fort Myers.

According to reports, tire failure caused the crash, leading the semi-truck to roll over into the tree line. Emergency responders had to extricate the trapped driver from the truck before transporting them to a local hospital for treatment.

Thoughts on Truck Accidents

Experiencing tire failure on the road in any vehicle is dangerous, but the consequences can be especially devastating when it’s a semi-truck. These massive machines do everything bigger—even accidents. Any time a commercial truck experiences a malfunction, it is important to investigate what went wrong, what could have prevented it, and all the responsible parties for the crash.

While some tire failures stem from factors like poor maintenance, others result from inherent defects in the tire’s design or construction. We are seeing this over and over again on steer axle commercial truck tires. Manufacturers cannot allow defective tires that pose significant dangers to motorists to make their way on the roadways. When they do, they should be held accountable for their negligence.

An investigation by trained professionals can help determine what caused this tire to fail and all the parties who share fault. If a second or third party is to blame— they need to be held accountable for their role in this incident.

Above all, our thoughts are with the injured individual, and we hope for a swift and full recovery: may any wrongdoing be brought to light.
