Three Workers Hurt When Building Partially Collapses at Construction Site in Wilmington, Delaware

Wilmington, Delaware — Three construction workers sustained injuries following a partial building collapse. The incident happened Friday at a construction site on 4th and Orange Streets.

According to reports, the workers were pouring concrete when part of the second floor collapsed in a building currently under construction.

Emergency personnel transported the three workers to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

No further details have been provided.

Thoughts on building collapses in construction sites

Buildings under construction pose a serious danger to those working inside and around the site. Construction workers should have the proper safety equipment and training before entering these hazardous areas.

Collapses can occur due to many factors, including improper building design or engineering, lack of adequate worker training, defective materials, or malfunctioning machinery. Employers are responsible for conducting thorough inspections to identify potential hazards, implementing comprehensive training programs, and promptly addressing any deficiencies to lower the risks of harm to workers.

Were safety measures in place here? Were the workers sufficiently trained in safety protocols? Were proper inspections conducted to identify potential hazards before the work commenced? If any of the answers are no, the employer should be held accountable for any unnecessary harm caused to workers. Only a thorough investigation can determine what caused the building to collapse.

Our thoughts are with the injured worker, and we hope they make a swift recovery.
