Woman Killed and Man Seriously Injured in a Rollover Accident on Interstate-95 in Flagler County, Florida

Flagler County, Fla. — A woman died, and a man was seriously injured when the pickup truck they were traveling in rolled over. The incident happened on I-95 Saturday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the male occupant was driving when the truck began changing lanes. It moved into the center lane before redirecting to the left and colliding with the guardrail. The truck became airborne and rolled over the median, stopping inside the grassy median.

The 46-year-old woman who was a passenger in the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. She reportedly was wearing a seatbelt. The driver sustained serious injuries, and emergency personnel transported him to the hospital for treatment.

No further details have been released.

Thoughts on rollover accidents

What a sad incident. One wrong move in a pickup truck and a rollover crash can happen in the blink of an eye. These are terrible accidents that no one should endure, and unfortunately, they happen quite too often.

Manufacturers know this and must produce trucks that can withstand the force of the rollover impact and not cause occupants additional harm by failing to withstand the force of the accident.

When a manufacturer produces a defective vehicle or one that does not protect during a rollover crash, they should be held responsible. The most common defect we see in rollover accidents, as shown in the video below, is roofs that crush under the weight of the truck.

Anytime someone is killed in a rollover crash with a truck, an investigation by trained professionals should happen. This can help the family find answers, and if the deceased suffered injuries caused by a defective vehicle, this information needs to come to light so the family can receive the justice they deserve for the loss of their loved one.
