Worker Injured in Construction Accident in Brockton, Massachusetts

Brockton, Mass. — A worker was injured Tuesday afternoon when a wall collapsed at a construction site in Brockton.

According to reports, the worker extricated himself from underneath the wall with assistance from fellow workers but needed help from firefighters to safely transport him out.

Chief Nardelli stated, “We had to extricate him down off something that basically didn’t have stairs,” “We had to put him in a stokes basket, remove him from the first-floor landing, down a ladder, over piles of dirt, and out to the ambulance where he was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center.”

The worker suffered moderate head and shoulder injuries.

In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that more construction workers died on the job in 2022 than in any other industry sector. This is unacceptable — we have to do more to protect our workers.

Were workers trained on safety and provided with safety equipment to reduce the chance of serious injury? Were hazardous areas identified and restricted? Answers to these questions will help determine if any wrongdoing or negligence contributed to this accident. Someone should be held accountable if this accident happened due to negligent actions.
