Christine Schneider dies in an Accident with a Semi-truck on I-70 in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri

Lake Saint Louis, Missouri — A woman lost her life in a fatal collision on eastbound Interstate 70, just west of Lake Saint Louis Boulevard.

The incident happened when a tractor-trailer abruptly changed lanes, a maneuver deemed unsafe at the time, and collided with the left side of a car driven by Christine D. Schneider.

The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the left side of the roadway, ejecting Christine D. Schneider from her vehicle. Schneider died from her injuries.

Thoughts on fatal semi-truck crashes

Any lapse in judgment or error on the part of a truck driver can have catastrophic consequences, as witnessed in this heartbreaking incident. Truckers are expected to drive attentively, adhere to basic road safety rules, and operate their vehicles at safe speeds. When truckers disregard these fundamental safety principles, whether through excessive speed, distraction, or neglect of basic rules, they must be held responsible.

Furthermore, trucking companies share a vital role in protecting motorists on our roadways. It is their responsibility to provide comprehensive training to their drivers, enforce a culture of safe driving practices, and rigorously monitor their drivers for any repeated traffic violations or unsafe driving behaviors. If these duties are not fulfilled, the trucking company may be partially responsible for the negligent actions of its drivers.

The surviving family deserves answers from the wrongdoers and justice for the suffering they must endure for their actions. Only through accountability, thorough training, and a commitment to safety can we hope to protect our roads and the lives of those who travel on them.
