Ford Edge Driver Killed in Accident with Semi-Truck on Eisenhower Expressway in Oak Park, Illinois

Oak Park, Illinois — One person died when the Ford Edge they were driving collided with the back of a parked semi-tractor trailer. The incident happened Thursday evening on the Eisenhower Expressway.

According to reports, first responders discovered a mangled 2008 Ford Edge wedged beneath the trailer of a parked semi-truck. The driver required extrication but died from their injuries at the scene.

No further details have been released.

Another accident with a parked semi-truck and passenger vehicle on the highway. These accidents have become far too frequent, causing preventable fatalities on our roadways. More accountability needs to happen to minimize the frequency of these terrible yet avoidable collisions.

The surviving family deserves to know why the truck was parked on the side of the road. From our experience, there are very few justifiable reasons for a trucker to park a full-sized semi-truck next to a moving lane of traffic. It is dangerous, and it results in fatal crashes time and time again.
